Update on Patrick Rake
Pat is one of our pilots who was struck by a car in January while riding on Alcoa Hwy. He is currently at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta where they specialize in traumatic brain and spinal injuries. Pat’s left leg was badly mangled and he nearly lost it. He is very lucky to be alive, owed in part to being just about a quarter mile from the hospital when the accident happened.
Pat is still struggling and is still having cognitive problems. His speech has returned and his leg is on the mend. He’ll get there! But it is going to be a long haul! It is unknown how long he will be in Atlanta at this point.
Pat’s wife Nanci seems to be holding out pretty well. She travels back and forth to Atlanta on the weekends. She occasionally posts updates on a Caringbridge site.
A Go Fund Me site has been set up to help with the expenses for Patrick and his wife Nanci. Donations will be very much appreciated.
